Donovan + Rebecca : Blithewold Mansion Wedding Photography : Bristol Rhode Island : Part Two

This is it! Part two of Donovan and Becca’s wedding. Even though I had only met Donovan and Becca a couple times before the wedding, I think I was just as excited and happy for them as a friend of many years. Call me crazy, but I feel like a bond forms between photographers and their couples. Being in front of a camera requires trust and a vulnerability, and it quickly brings people together in a unique way.

I loved every detail of this wedding. From the brides Kate Spade shoes to the glowing chandeliers, things couldn’t have looked more perfect. And the bride and groom? There is no doubt these two are in love and perfect for each other.

Dunny and Becca – thanks for letting us be a part of your amazing wedding day. It was absolutely beautiful, and we wish you all the best in your marriage!

How did you meet and fall in love?
Becca moved to Boston on a whim hoping to find a job but unexpectedly found much more. She found a husband and best friend. At the very first handshake, Becca’s intuition told her that Donovan was the one. It was fate. They worked together every day and became the best of friends. In such a short amount of time they had built this unspoken bond and connection that was undeniable. It was just a matter of time before they made it official and from that point on, they were inseparable.

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

It’s tough to pick a singular moment that was most memorable to us on our wedding day. There were so many times we would look at everything going on around us and say to each other, “can you believe this is real? We are so lucky we have this magical moment to remember forever!”  It was most definitely surreal to see all the work we had put in over the last year, trying to make sure everything would be perfect and then you finally have the opportunity to see it all come to fruition and enjoy it as husband and wife. It felt like a fairy tale and many people would say to us, there will be so many things going on around you that you won’t even remember the details but we remember ever last detail and we’re so happy we do!

Any advice for future bride/grooms?
The best advice we received and would pass on to future bride and grooms would be; organize everything as much as you possibly can and try to have back up plans for different situations that may come up but when that day comes and things are not working out just the way you had imagined, work with what you have and let the rest roll off your back. Its just not worth your being upset on your day. Although you hear people say you blink your eyes and its over, when you are in that moment yourself you will see how truly shocking it is how quickly everything is over.  Just remember, even though you may notice little things that aren’t perfect in your eyes, no one else will. Play it off like everything is just what you had planned it would be and everyone will believe it.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
I wouldn’t change a thing..unless I could control the weather and slow down time! But beggars can’t be choosers. I had said all along that all I wanted was no rain and that’s exactly what I got. I just didn’t imagine it being record breaking temperatures, that’s all.

What was your favorite detail?

As a bride, I have to say there just could not possibly be one detail I would choose as a favorite over another. I noticed every last detail that day had to offer and to me, detail is everything!  Maybe everyone won’t notice every detail but at the end of the day that’s what really made it special and memorable to me. You would be surprised though, some people surprise you at the details they do notice.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?
There were so many funny times that day and weekend, I feel like we were always laughing! If I had to focus on one thing I would say, it was actually the morning of the rehearsal dinner. The girls were getting ready to head down to Bristol. We had a full house! That night before, my entire family including my brother-in-law, sisters’ best friend and my best friend stayed over.  So, there were just mounds of things everywhere, including wedding gifts. As we were packing up the car, my mom asked if we wanted to leave the wedding gifts at the house to open when we got back. We agreed to leaving the gifts but I noticed one of the cards said “Mr and Mrs. Driscoll”. I automatically assumed it must be a gift my parents had gotten for his and mentioned that we had better pack it so we wouldn’t forget it. My friend Kristin quickly responded, ” You idiot! That’s you!”. So it became this big joke.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Our honeymoon was spent on the beautiful island of Anguilla. It was a week full of relaxation, exploration and romance. It was just what we needed and could not have pictured a more perfect place.
